Inspiration away from home "Maxine" started out as a short story I wrote right after I had taken a second Gotham Writing Class titled "Morning People" back in 2010. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I started thinking about making it into a short film. I spent Memorial Day weekend 2012 in a hostel in New Hampshire. It was there that I began sketching out scenes for what would eventually become "Maxine." I was still in the midst of editing "When Bart6874 met Lulu5547." Labor Day weekend I did the same. I went up to the same hostel in New Hampshire with friends and continued writing sketches for the short film.
BAR HARBOR, MAINE - October 2012 One night while vacationing with my friend J in Bar Harbor, Maine, I pitched to him the story at a bar over drinks. It was the first time I had ever spoken about it with someone. He liked the idea and immediately offered his apartment to shoot it in. For that I will always be grateful.
REYKJAVIK, ICELAND - January 2013 I spent a week on vacation there and had the best time. I alternated days. One day I would go sightseeing (glaciers, Northern Lights, geysers, etc. etc.) the next I would take my laptop, park myself at a cafe downtown and write. I remember finishing up the first draft of it in the lobby of Icelandair Hotel, right by the fireplace. I had e-mailed some of my friends the draft and since then started polishing it.
MUSIC This would be the third time Jon Tinnirello and I are collaborating. He did a great job scoring my past two projects "Open House" and "When Bart6874 met Lulu5547."
